RABBIT HAY GUIDES · SINGAPORE

Your rabbit loves their hay. Why offer another type?

Keep the favourite. A second hay can broaden what feels familiar.

A second hay your rabbit already enjoys gives you another option when the usual bag changes or is unavailable. Rabbit.org recommends variety to build familiarity with different smells and textures. You can explore that while keeping a favourite freely available.

Find one more hay they willingly eat

For a healthy adult rabbit, timothy, orchard and oat are grass-hay options. Choose one addition by looking at the actual leaves and stems. A softer leafy handful and a coarser, stemmier one offer more contrast than two differently branded bags that look much alike.

Keep the favourite; add one small option

  1. Start with a small pack. Introduce a little alongside the usual hay, which stays freely available.
  2. Look beyond the first sniff. During ordinary feeding times, notice which pieces are chewed and whether your rabbit returns to them.
  3. Keep what works. If both are enjoyed, offer both. If the extra hay goes untouched, there is no reason to buy a larger bag yet.

There is no need to work through every grass on a checklist. The useful result is another hay your rabbit willingly eats, not a bigger collection of open bags.
